Life’s a Beach

I was recently enlisted by a close girlfriend to help plan a bachelorette beach bash for the upcoming spring. Though vastly unseasonal I figured it would be a good time to make note of some tips and inspirations during the early stages of planning.

As I always try to instill in the minds of fellow friends and planners do your best to encourage a commitment from all of those who are invited. It is immensely difficult to budget when you do not have everyone on board. Also inviting 25 guests on an out-of-town trip is not only a major pain to plan for, but makes it nearly impossible to keep tabs on that large of a guest list. I am a strong believer in keeping your bachelorette party down to a smaller, more manageable size. This way everyone can enjoy themselves and it makes it easier for those who are executing the planning. When booking an out-of-town venue, hotel, house, condo- whatever it may be knowing the approximate number of attendees makes it that much simpler to budget, book, and follow through with all the little details.

Since I am an Atlanta girl it is a little difficult to make suggestions on exactly where to plan your bachelorette beach weekend since I have readers from all over. However, for those of you the South, here is a list of accessible destinations in no particular order;

1. Destin, FL.   2. Charleston, SC    3.Gulf Shores, AL.  4. Miami, FL   5. Daytona Beach, FL.

A lot of ladies I know have been choosing to forego sending out paper invites and to just send an e-vite to get the ball rolling. As easy as e-mail is I love receiving  good invite in the mail (especially for a bachelorette weekend.) Here are a couple of fun, different samples I have recently come across;

As far  as favors go it is always nice treat your friends with a little “thank you for coming” gift. By no means does it have to be anything expensive, however it is always a nice gesture to show your guests that you are appreciative of them being there to celebrate with you. Here are a couple of cute, affordable ideas that can be easily duplicated and used as gifts.

You can find adorable towels for as cheap as $4 at any local Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Usually monogramming is fairly inexpensive depending on where you go, but if the idea of full named doesn’t appease, you can always do a single letter.

Personalized cups are such a great, easy DIY gift especially for a beach weekend. However, if you do not have the time to craft you can always easily order them online. (photo above courtesy of ETSY)

I love, love, love koozies for a bachelorette party gift and they are so appropriate for a beach weekend. Not only are the extremely cheap to order and personalize, but they also last and can be used 100 times. Such a perfect keepsake for a weekend you and your girls will not surely soon forget.

More Great Gifts

I am a Leo and with that comes the ability to be able to give the perfect gift. Although gift giving is not something you have to do when planning a shindig with your girls I always feel like it is a nice gesture to give a little something to say thank you for attending. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love the idea of giving these Vera Bradley wristlets for bridesmaid/bachelorette party gifts. They are so fabulous for a night out on the town. They make ones big enough to fit your phone as well as the smaller ones that can fit your ID, a lipgloss, and some cash and cards. Vera Bradley wristlets usually run about $35-$45. However, if you are thrifty you can often find these on clearance or online for as cheap as $8-$10. Check out all of  Vera Bradley’s fabulous patterns here.

I love Vineyard Vines’ Beach themed goodies and if you are planning a beach getaway with your ladies what better gift to give than a Vineyard Vines tote? They come in all kinds of prints including seahorses and mermaids. These bags run anywhere from $85-$200. Pictures above with the tote is their patchwork Koozie. These can be found four about $5-$6. Visit Vineyard Vines here.

It is no secret that I am a huge Lilly fan. I LOVE these Lilly Pulitzer “Tech cases.” They can fit anything from your camera to your Iphone. They come in an array of different patterns and are also fairly cheap at only $15 (I know, right?!) Would make a great gift for any occasion.  Check out these Lilly Cases here.

More Fabulous Favors

Happy April to all my fellow bachelorettes out there! Wedding season is upon is which can only mean one thing… Bachelorette parties are inevitable! Here are a few cute trends I have recently come across which make for great bachelorette, or bridesmaid favors.

Monogrammed Beach Towels

With the warm weather arriving beach trips make for great bachelorette weekends or just a fun getaway with the girls. These over sized beach towels are cute, original, and can be used well after a fun weekend.

Hand Painted Wine Glasses

It is becoming increasingly more popular to DIY and not only is it a cost effective idea, but it adds that extra little touch. It is so great to give a gift that you have made yourself is a true gesture of love and appreciation. These hand painted wine glasses are not only super cute, but easy to make and personalize. Perfect for bachelorette gifts.

Monogrammed Coolers

I received a monogrammed cooler similar to this as a birthday gift last year and have used it on more occasions than I can count. They come fairly inexpensively and are fun to customize according to taste. I found this particular one on Etsy and it runs about $28.

Fun Flasks

These flasks are too cute and can be found in an array of different prints. Not only are they a fabulous favor, but they also come in handy for those weddings who offer minimal alcohol options or a cash bar. These were found on Etsy and run about $142 for 8 flasks with any print.

Survival Kits

I love, love, love ideas like this that you have the freedom to be creative with. These are also ultra budget friendly. Chinese containers can be found for around $1 a piece. When it comes to decor and fillers the sky’s the limit. Have fun and fill according to the theme of the party. Hitting the city for a night of drinking, dancing, and debauchery? Try filling with aspirin, gum, lip gloss, Dr. Scholls fast flats, and maybe even a couple minis.

Party On.
