Life’s a Beach

I was recently enlisted by a close girlfriend to help plan a bachelorette beach bash for the upcoming spring. Though vastly unseasonal I figured it would be a good time to make note of some tips and inspirations during the early stages of planning.

As I always try to instill in the minds of fellow friends and planners do your best to encourage a commitment from all of those who are invited. It is immensely difficult to budget when you do not have everyone on board. Also inviting 25 guests on an out-of-town trip is not only a major pain to plan for, but makes it nearly impossible to keep tabs on that large of a guest list. I am a strong believer in keeping your bachelorette party down to a smaller, more manageable size. This way everyone can enjoy themselves and it makes it easier for those who are executing the planning. When booking an out-of-town venue, hotel, house, condo- whatever it may be knowing the approximate number of attendees makes it that much simpler to budget, book, and follow through with all the little details.

Since I am an Atlanta girl it is a little difficult to make suggestions on exactly where to plan your bachelorette beach weekend since I have readers from all over. However, for those of you the South, here is a list of accessible destinations in no particular order;

1. Destin, FL.   2. Charleston, SC    3.Gulf Shores, AL.  4. Miami, FL   5. Daytona Beach, FL.

A lot of ladies I know have been choosing to forego sending out paper invites and to just send an e-vite to get the ball rolling. As easy as e-mail is I love receiving  good invite in the mail (especially for a bachelorette weekend.) Here are a couple of fun, different samples I have recently come across;

As far  as favors go it is always nice treat your friends with a little “thank you for coming” gift. By no means does it have to be anything expensive, however it is always a nice gesture to show your guests that you are appreciative of them being there to celebrate with you. Here are a couple of cute, affordable ideas that can be easily duplicated and used as gifts.

You can find adorable towels for as cheap as $4 at any local Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Usually monogramming is fairly inexpensive depending on where you go, but if the idea of full named doesn’t appease, you can always do a single letter.

Personalized cups are such a great, easy DIY gift especially for a beach weekend. However, if you do not have the time to craft you can always easily order them online. (photo above courtesy of ETSY)

I love, love, love koozies for a bachelorette party gift and they are so appropriate for a beach weekend. Not only are the extremely cheap to order and personalize, but they also last and can be used 100 times. Such a perfect keepsake for a weekend you and your girls will not surely soon forget.

Blissful Brunch

Let’s be honest, ladies.. Who doesn’t LOVE Brunch? Not only can you be super crafty when creating a menu, but it is also a completely acceptable reason to start cocktailing at 11:00 a.m. Hosting a brunch is also a perfect excuse to dress fabulously with all your girls and try out all of those recipes you have been collecting on Pinterest. So whether you are hosting a shower, or  a post bachelorette party gathering – here are some lovely inspirations to help you ease into hosting a brilliant, blissful brunch.

A Bloody Mary or Mimosa Bar is a fun way for everyone to have the option to make their concoction. You also have the power to be as creative with it as you want.

For those who are non-drinkers or do not prefer to start drinking before 1 in the afternoon – this infused water bar makes for a delicious and refreshing option. You could also do lemonade or an array of iced teas if preferred.

Quiche, Biscuits, and a delightful assortment of seasonal fruits are just a few suggestions for hosting the perfect mid afternoon gathering. A biscuit bar loaded with honey and jam is an easy go to when hours of early preparation is not your idea of a good time. Many biscuit recipes can be made in advance and baked off before you need them hot and fresh. If you like what you see in the first picture then you absolutely have to check out this easy brunch menu compliments of Southern Living. For other great shower inspirations check out Hostess with the Mostess.

Veggies are always a big hit and an easy go to. To make it more fun and festive try using vases for the veggies and martini glasses for the dip instead of a boring old platter. This is so simple to create and definitely easy on the eyes.

Finger foods and small bites are such a wonderful idea when you know you are going to be up  socializing with your closest gals. These tiny bites are definitely cute but can be time-consuming to assemble. If you have a larger group coming you may want to consider hiring a caterer. However if you are the Martha Stewart type then this should be an easy feat. Just be prepared for an early morning.

Just remember that presentation is key. Go that extra mile to do fresh flower arrangements or splurge for real cocktail glasses instead of pink Dixie cups. You may have the best tasting food in the world, but everyone will remember the tiny elements and attention to detail you put into your soiree. By the end of brunch all the ladies will be singing your praises.

Spring in ATL

Spring has finally descended upon ATL, and with spring of course comes wedding season. We all know what that means- Time for fabulous bachelorette and bridesmaid outings! What better way to celebrate a special occasion than to get out and enjoy our beautiful city with your best girls? Here are some suggestions for great seasonal, casual outings with the girls.

The Sweetwater Brewery is a must do for a fun, booze infused outing with the ladies. You can go on a free tour, but for $10 they will give you 6 tasting tickets and a Sweetwater pint glass. They offer tours Wednesday-Saturdays from 2:30-4:30. If the tour aspect does not interest you then this is a great casual spot to enjoy some true to Atlanta brews and just kick back with some friends. If you happen to be in Atlanta over 4/20 weekend then you can absolutely not miss out on Sweetwater’s 420 fest- their once a year outdoor festival with live music, tons of beer, and all kinds of fun for all. Check out the Sweetwater Brewery here. Cheers!

Braves Games are always a fun way to get the ladies together for a true to ATL outing. Whether you are a sports fan or not there is always fun to be had down at Turner Field. If not anything there will be plenty of fine baseball player eye candy to watch. You can get great discounts on group tickets which is perfect if you have a substantial amount of people going. On a personal recommendation I would suggest trying to attend a night game and buy some tickets in covered seating. It keeps the heat down and makes the game enjoyable for any kind of weather. Tailgating beforehand is a must do so pack up a cooler with your favorite cocktails and bring it on down to the South side of town. Braves games make for fantastic couples outings as well (if you decide that you want to invite the guys.) Check out pricing for package deals here . Go Braves!

The Dogwood Festival is a yearly Atlanta tradition. If you happen to be in Atl while this is going on (usually over Earth Day weekend-Same time as Sweetwater 420 Fest) Then add this to your list of Atlanta Must-Do’s. The Dogwood Festival offers tons of great artists, music, food, and events. A little something for everyone can easily be found at this yearly Atlanta staple. Check out the Dogwood Festival here.

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens make for a perfect spring outing. This year ABG is hosting Gourmet in May with tons of food demonstrations, classes, and activities including an edible garden (how cool?) If the food doesn’t suit your appetite then feel free to walk around and enjoy the beautiful gardens and all they have to offer. ABG is really a lovely place to spend a free afternoon. Grab your ladies and check it out. It is centrally located in Atlanta right on the Buckhead/Midtown border so you can plan a fun dinner/cocktail outing afterwards. ABG offers group rates for parties of 10 or more. Check out the Atlanta Botanical Gardens here.

Enjoy Spring and Party On!
